Dear Anshu,

It is always a pleasure to read something written by you - maybe you should consider switching professions !!!

It was nearly 30 years ago that I had visited Southall - my memories of that visit are fairly grainy, but what I do remember is ... litter ! ( Of all things ! ) I expect things are different now.

Do keep writing,

Dear Anshu,

You shouldn't get surprised to see so many punjabis in Southall because about half the 70,000 people in Southall owe their roots to India or Pakistan. The famous gurudwara there is the largest sikh temple outside India!

Curiously, wikipedia also carries the Southall station photograph that showcases a mix of English and Gurmukhi!

Keep on writing. You write so well! Pleasure to read your blog.

Take care,

I forgot to tell you something before going to Southall. But I was not knowing that you would go that soon. If you go there again, then try to find a sweet named DHODHA in any halwai shop. But it is worth trying only if it is supplied from the city KOTKAPURA of Punjab in India.
